Who are we?
We are Human-Centred Innovation specialists, passionate about creativity, design, and education. We’ve got backgrounds in art, music & design and business and years of experience working in the public and private sectors.
Why exp studio?
What we do well (and differently) is go the extra mile when it comes to design education, mentoring and design consultancy. We’ve been shaped by years of learning on the job and we’re friendly and affordable.
Our team courses are customised to the needs of teams and are delivered in a personalised style not typically found elsewhere. Courses come with an option of post-course mentoring. We also offer online courses for individuals.
Where are we?
We’re based in Melbourne but can work with clients located all over Australia (and beyond). Our work is mostly conducted online and can be completed in person as well.
Meet the Team
Neil Simpson - Founder, Trainer and Consultant
Neil brings nearly three decades of experience as a Human Centred Design and Innovation specialist, working in Europe and Australia.
With a background in music, law, publishing, and advertising, he’s worked as researcher, designer, and strategist on over 150 products and services for private and public organisations including Officeworks, The Department of Health and Aged Care, Austrade, Origin Energy, NBN, ANZ, Nike and Apple.
Neil’s also an award-winning mentor having worked with over 500 Australian and international professionals on RMIT Online courses, and directly with numerous employees within organisations.
Ben Gilmore - Trainer and Consultant
Ben is an award-winning designer with over twenty years in the industry. He has experience spanning from the design of BBC olympics website to service design for Telstra Bundles.
Before a career in Design and Education, Ben studied Art at Goldsmiths College in London.
Ben has extensive experience teaching and mentoring. He’s mentored students from USA, Argentina, and Bangladesh. He’s taught design at some of Australia’s learning institutions and built courses for Vision Australia.
